HOLDING GOVERNMENTS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR COMMITMENTS TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

In 1992, the leaders of the world's nations met at the Earth Summit in Rio to set out an ambitious agenda to address the environmental, economic, and social challenges facing the international community. Earth Summit Watch is a unique citizens' initiative to monitor and encourage actions by each national government to implement the promises made in Rio and thereafter to move toward sustainable development. It is clear while some progress has been made, much remains to be done.

  • The nations of the world continue to move towards a total phaseout of leaded gasoline.  Click here for an update.
  • The  Shrimp Sentinel Online is an internet forum for discussion and dialogue on how to make the growing global production of shrimp sustainable.
  • Our report - Clearing the Water - suggests the need for a new approach to addressing the critical problem of providing safe drinking water to a growing world population.
