| PowerShift Cool Solutions to Global Warming To begin to seriously address global warming, Canada has to cut its emissions of greenhouse gases in half. New research by energy expert Ralph Torre shows how this can be done over the next 30 years using current technology. Full Report (1 Mb) |
| Clearing the Air: Air Quality Co-benefits of Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Canada This study demonstrates that measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions have the potential for significant health and economic co-benefits. Six measures were chosen from Canadian Solutions and reports from the National Climate Change Process Issue Tables. The analysis showed that as much as $2.2 billion every year in health and environmental damages could be avoided by instituting these six measures alone. Executive Summary (120K) Full Report (171K) |

| The David Suzuki Foundation's Global Warming: Climate Change Briefing Kit : This educational kit informs Canadian communities, classrooms, organizations, and decision makers. The eight part kit, written in plain, easy-to-understand language, presents both the challenges and the opportunities that taking action on climate change can bring. It includes an explanation of climate change, how Canada will be affected, how Canada compares, alternatives, economic impacts and preventative measures. Briefing Kit Order Kit |
| Taking Our Breath Away: The Health Effects of Air Pollution and Climate Change The authors, two medical epidemiologists and an air pollution specialist, find that every year as many as 16,000 Canadians are dying prematurely because of air pollution from fossil fuel emissions. The burning of fossil fuels also causes global warming, which is expected to make air pollution worse as higher temperatures encourage smog formation. Climate change and air pollution are likely to further erode human health unless immediate steps are taken to reduce world consumption of fossil fuels. | Clean Power at Home Clean Power at Home looks at how British Columbians who connect their own small scale, renewable energy technologies to the grid could generate their own clean power and sell any excess back to BC Hydro. Net metering would enable customers to feed the grid when possible and draw from the grid when needed. The report examines the environmental, financial and job-creation benefits of small scale micro-hydro, wind generation and solar power. | Canadian Solutions: Practical and Affordable Steps to Fight Climate Change Canadian Solutions describes how government, industry and individuals can reduce emissions effectively and affordably to meet the target of the Kyoto Protocol. There are many social, economic and environmental benefits in moving toward cleaner energy sources. The report outlines 17 practical and cost-effective "first steps" on the route to climate stability. | The Role of Government: A Briefing Paper for the Honourable Paul Martin This report shows how government programs and Canada's economy are currently structured to encourage ever greater energy consumption, and therefore higher emissions of greenhouse gases. A plan to for meeting the nation's greenhouse gas reduction targets is presented. (1997) Executive Summary (89K) Full Report (451K) | Order Report |
| Taking Charge: Personal Initiatives The actions of individuals and communities do affect climate change. This report examines everything from personal purchasing habits, daily behaviour and lifestyle choices, to official community plans and growth strategies. The authors show how local action can significantly cut Canada's rate of emissions. (1997) Executive Summary (108K) Full Report (715K) | Order Report |
