Information Society Technologies and the Environment in Central and Eastern EuropeThe UNECE Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decisionmaking and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters has moved into the world of electronic media and tools. Information Society Technologies are valuable in promoting compliance with the Access to Information and Public Participation "pillars" of the Convention argues the REC, UNEP- Infoterra and EcoForum in a paper presented in Dubrovnik, July 2000 at the Meeting of Signatories. A new Task Force on Electronic Access to Information will meet to discuss barriers to implementation and share good practice case studies in March 2001 in Arendal, Norway.
